RTA Expands Sheikh Zayed Road with New Lane Near Dubai Mall Metro Station

Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced the completion of an expansion project on Sheikh Zayed Road, a critical artery running through the city. The project involved widening a 2-kilometre stretch of the highway to enhance traffic flow in one of Dubai's busiest corridors.

The expansion specifically added a new lane in the direction originating from Abu Dhabi and proceeding towards the World Trade Centre Intersection. This particular section of the road is situated in a high-traffic area, adjacent to the prominent Burj Khalifa/Dubai Mall Metro Station, making the improvement significant for daily commuters and visitors to Downtown Dubai.

This initiative forms part of the RTA's broader strategy to implement traffic improvement projects across Sheikh Zayed Road. These ongoing efforts are designed to alleviate congestion and accommodate the increasing demands of Dubai's growing population, ensuring smoother journeys for motorists.

The RTA continually undertakes infrastructure upgrades to maintain efficient transportation networks. Previous projects include the opening of new lanes and U-turns on Latifa bint Hamdan Street, which reportedly reduced traffic by up to 30 per cent, highlighting the authority's commitment to continuous enhancement of the emirate's road infrastructure.
