Ajman is the smallest of the seven emirates that make up the United Arab Emirates, covering an area of 260 square kilometers. It is strategically located along the Arabian Gulf and is bordered by the emirates of Sharjah and Umm Al Quwain. Ajman also includes two inland enclaves, Manama and Masfout, which are known for their agricultural lands and mineral resources. The emirate is governed by Sheikh Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi III, who has ruled since 1981, continuing the leadership of the Al Nuaimi family that dates back to 1810.
The city of Ajman, which houses most of the emirate's population, is a thriving urban center with a well-developed infrastructure. It has a bustling port and free zone that support a significant portion of the UAE's manufacturing industry. The emirate's economy is bolstered by its favorable business environment, attracting investors with its liberal policies and strategic location. Ajman is also known for its vibrant textile industry and growing real estate market, regulated by the Ajman Real Estate Regulatory Authority (ARERA).
Culturally, Ajman is rich in heritage and traditions. The Al Jarah Cultural Center is a notable institution that offers insights into the emirate's history and development. The community is renowned for its hospitality, which is deeply ingrained in the local culture. Ajman also offers a range of recreational and tourism attractions, including beaches, parks, and the Ajman National Museum. With ongoing development projects and a focus on enhancing its tourism sector, Ajman continues to grow as a significant hub in the UAE.
