The UAE has granted Starlink, Elon Musk's satellite internet service, a 10-year General Satellite Services Licence, allowing it to provide broadband internet services across the country. This strategic move, announced by the UAE Government Media Office, is set to significantly enhance the nation's digital infrastructure.

The licence authorises Starlink to establish, operate, and manage a public satellite telecommunications network within the UAE, subject to established regulatory and technical frameworks. This new satellite layer will complement the existing fibre-optic and 5G networks, bolstering the UAE's digital resilience and ensuring improved service continuity.
