King's College Hospital Dubai Breaks Ground on Phase 2 Expansion, Boosting Capacity to 200 Beds

King's College Hospital London - Dubai has officially broken ground on the next phase of its expansion at Dubai Hills Hospital, marking a significant step in enhancing healthcare services in the UAE.

The groundbreaking ceremony, held on 23 September, formally initiated the Phase 2 development. This expansion is set to substantially increase the hospital's capacity and further develop its offering of specialist and complex care.

Expanded Capacity and Services

The expansion, scheduled for completion in 2028, will raise the hospital's bed capacity to 200. This increase will provide additional medical, surgical, and critical care facilities, allowing the hospital to cater to a growing number of patients from across the UAE and the wider region.

Ms. Kimberley Pierce, CEO of King’s College Hospital London - Dubai, highlighted the patient benefits, stating that the expansion would facilitate the introduction of new services like radiation oncology. This addition aims to provide a more comprehensive cancer care pathway, supporting patients from diagnosis through treatment within a single facility.

Collaborative Development

The project underscores King’s College Hospital Dubai’s continued collaboration with the King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust in London, reinforcing the development of advanced healthcare in Dubai. H.E. Mr. Ahmed Humaid Al Tayer, Chairman of King’s College Hospital London - Dubai, noted that the expansion is the 'next stage' of the vision to bring the quality and clinical expertise of King's in London to the UAE.

DCIB Construction LLC has been appointed as the main contractor for the Phase 2 expansion, working in a joint venture with Menasco Mechanical Contracting LLC.
