Burjeel Holdings Launches Unified Emergency Care Network in Abu Dhabi

Burjeel Holdings has unveiled the Burjeel Emergency and Acute Care Operational Network (BEACON), an integrated system designed to streamline emergency, critical care, and interfacility patient transfers within its Abu Dhabi network. This initiative aims to ensure that patients entering any Burjeel facility are promptly connected with the appropriate level of care and specialised medical expertise.

The BEACON framework provides comprehensive access to specialist and subspecialist teams, intensive care services, advanced diagnostics, inpatient facilities, and a broad range of treatment capabilities across Burjeel's two hospitals. Its core structure is built around four primary areas:

• Acute care access
• Emergency Department quality and value
• Integration between the Emergency Department and the wider hospital network
• Interfacility transfer and prehospital integration

Also, the network seeks to strengthen subspecialty routing, establish standardised clinical protocols, and use technology-enabled clinical decision support systems. Depending on a patient's specific condition, emergency physicians can easily involve specialists from various fields, including cardiology, neurology, oncology, maternal-fetal medicine, intensive care, surgery, and paediatrics.

The framework also incorporates the use of advanced clinical decision support and predictive tools. These tools are designed to assist in identifying high-risk patients earlier, guiding acute care navigation, and continuously monitoring key quality indicators to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
